SLCHI Oration 2023

Applications are called for the SLCHI oration at the first Annual General Meeting of the College

Submission Deadline: 31st October 2023
Guidelines for Submission
  1. The Oration should be written in full, and the script of the Oration should be submitted.
  2. The IMRAD format is suggested unless the content requires otherwise.
  3. A substantial part of the Oration should be based on original research.
  4. Orations based on work published in peer-reviewed journals will be given priority.
  5. For all research involving human or animal subjects, mention the ‘Ethics Clearance’ in the methods section. Randomized Control Trials should have been registered in a WHO-recognized Clinical Trial Registry.
  6. The Oration should be typed using Times New Roman, size 12, double line spacing. The Harvard system of referencing should be used.

  8. All authors of orations should be members of the SLCHI if they are eligible for membership. (If you are not a member at present, please become a member before forwarding your application).
Before you submit please ensure that
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labelled.
File upload requirements ONE ZIP file containing a total of 6 files need to be uploaded. All documents should be in DOCX format. All file names should start with your SLCHI membership number (Eg: OL-01F_Abstract.docx). Please refer to your membership certificate to find the number. 1. Abstract of the article with authors and affiliations 2. Full text of the article without author and affiliations 3. Cover letter addressed to the Secretary, SLCHI. It should consist of
  • The impact of the research in terms of advancing scientific knowledge, quality of clinical care and improvement of service delivery.
  • an explanation of why the applicant believes that the work is of sufficient merit to deserve an Oration
4. Proof of ethical clearance if relevant or a declaration by the authors why ethical clearance is not needed 5. Information Sheet containing the following sections
  • List of the original papers/ publications on which the Oration is based
  • In the case of multi-author research and publications, details of the contribution to the design, data collection, analysis and writing of the manuscript by the applicant and other authors
  • If the article has been published/presented before, details of these journals or conferences.
6. Declarations by the applicant – a single file containing the following sections
  • Declaration that the other authors of the presented research have no objections to the submission of the Oration.
  • Declaration whether all or parts of the work included in the manuscript has already been presented as an Oration.
  • Declaration of financial and other conflicts of interests.
  • Declaration that permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
